My Speaker Idol Experience
On November 3rd, I participate to the Speaker Idol with Louis-Philippe Pinsonneault, my co-worker and 5 other participants. The Speaker Idol was hosted by the Montreal .NET Community in collaboration with 
. The main objective was to give the possibility to everyone who wishes to become a presenter to give their very first presentation in front of a small group of people.
I really enjoy my experience at the Speaker Idol. I was there to live the experience of giving a presentation in front of a group because this is something I want to do in the future. All presenters were very interesting and all subjects were totally different. I did a presentation on how to create simple Silverlight animation using Microsoft Expression Blend. At the beginning of my presentation, I was really nervous but after the first 30 seconds, I felt really good in front of the group. At first, I thought that the 10 minutes allowed to present our subject was far enough. But what a surprised when I figure out that the 10 minutes was over and I didn’t have the time to do even half of my sample demo!!!
At the end, I finish second, just behind Jean-Sebastien Tougas the big winner. I’m really proud of what I did. I had really good tips and comments from the 3 judges and it will definitely help me in the future.
I want to thanks all presenters that participate at the Speaker Idol because it takes a lot of courage to do presentation in front of a group of people and everyone did a great job at it. Also, I want to thanks Ineta and the Montreal .NET Community for giving a first chance to people like me of being a presenter. Finally, I would like to thanks all people that came to that wonderful evening because without you, event like this would never happened to Montreal!!!
